  1. We stayed at Hawks Cay a couple years ago in the Keys and saw this place but never thought anything of it. Looking at the old Facebook pictures from 2010 you can see why it closed down. Very run down and old. Looked like they never updated it from the 70โ€™s. No way it could keep up with the nicer, newer resorts in the area. Would almost have to demolish and start over.

  2. Thatโ€™s crazy people who have lots of money can do what they please and the poor Scramble to survive . Not all are lucky I guess but it looked like a really nice place to go on a vacation before it closed.

  3. Thanks so much for explaining at the beginning and saying you donโ€™t know much about itโ€™s history! This place looks like it has hurricane damage, and it just never recovered.

  4. I grew up in Marathon! It was an okay place prior to 2004 and it went to hell when it was sold in 2006. The area has been deteriorating very badly over the last decade and it got even more damage from the last hurricane. I hope someone buys the property soon and builds something new to help Marathons economy!

  5. This place is still on Facebook! 2915 the owner was talking about tearing down the old buildings and replacing all with new……One review in 2008! Odd! Guess financing fell thru?

  6. I stayed there in the early 80s. Looks like hurricane Erma just about finished it off.
There is a navy air base near Key West.
    Those sharks won't bother you.
You should head over to Big Pine Key and take the snorkel boat trip.

It's like swimming in the Bahamas, in the reefs.

  7. Stayed there in the early 2000โ€™s , such a shame ๐Ÿ˜” the dock area was so much cleaner, so was the water. So sad. Thanks for posting guys ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’—โœŒ๏ธ

  8. Was waiting for a crack head to jump out!
Do you know there is a place in FL. with wild ๐Ÿ’, they were left there years ago, and have grown to a whole lot, that would be a cool video๐Ÿ˜ blessings

  9. When you shower later, puts some milk of magnesium on the burnt areas. Plaster it on and just go to bed. Put more on the next morning if it is still uncomfortable.

  10. Great video. I always respect your thoughts on vandals and vandalism. Broken down rotting stuff is cool from a historical standpoint. Vandals ruin the history, and fun of what a place once was, and I always like that you call that out, and don't stand for it. You two make amazing videos. Thank you for sharing them with us. Have a good weekend. Take care.

  11. I love trip. I have a friend that use to go there every year. In 2011 hurricane flooding the whole area. Wasnโ€™t worth the money to refurbish the once beautiful motel. Same thing in Sanibel-Captiva. Spilt the enter Island in two. So much wild life and native botany gone.

  12. Redevelopment was started in late 2015 with a start of new construction in January 2016. Seems the redevelopment has stalled. I got this info off the internet I have no inside info.

  13. Great now we have to worry about sharks eating our favorite explorer! ha ha I kept waiting to see an alligator or snakes! Looks like mother nature did more damage than the vandals! Rob you always have so much confidence when you hold the v=camera in your intros! I think when you stand away from the camera your a little nervous and forget your lines! Still good stuff just noticed the change in you! I wouldn't want to stay in this place with all that plane traffic too much noise!
